Dechmont Law Local Event (Sun 8th November 2020)

Entrants are being given an option to defer their entry to the rescheduled event or have their entry refunded.

UPDATE 28/10/2020 - following the Scottish Government's announcement regarding travel restrictions earlier today we are seeking clarification as to whether this will impact the event.  More as soon as we know - please also check the SOA website for information.

General Information

This event will be our second post-lockdown event, and will take place on Dechmont Law near Livingston.  Due to COVID-19 requirements, there will be no entry on the day (EOD).  Anyone wishing to enter must complete the entry form (link below).

Dechmont Law, Livingston.  Parking will be at the east end of Royston Road in the industrial estate between the A89 and M8 to the north west of Dechmont Law - grid ref NT023697.

Course Details

There will be 4 courses.

  • Yellow (suitable for beginners) - 1.7 km, 30m climb
  • Orange (suitable for improvers / adult beginners) - 2.4 km, 30m climb
  • Green (suitable for experienced orienteers) - 4.0 km, 95m climb
  • Blue (suitable for experienced orienteers) - 5.7 km, 145m climb

Please note ALL courses are suitable for ALL ages.  (There is no urban on the blue course as previously wrongly advertised. Sorry!)


Please complete the <entry form link deleted> and make payment online using the details on the form.  Please heed current government guidelines regarding travel between local health board areas - Dechmont Law is in the Lothian Health Board area.

Entry fees are:

  • Seniors: £5 (SOA/BOF-affiliated club members) / £7 (non-members)
  • Juniors: £3 (SOA/BOF-affiliated club members) / £4 (non-members)

There will be one portaloo near the car parking.  This is primarily for volunteers - please try to use facilities elsewhere if possible.

Safety and Risk

A standard risk assessment, and an additional COVID-19-specific risk assessment have been carried out. However, participants take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety during the event.
