Congratulations to Robin Galloway who is this year's recipient of the club's Gullane Rock Award. The club secretary's citation was as follows:
'Hunting through my list of Event Organisers and Planners, going back to 1992, the first reference I can find to this year’s nominee is a CATI event at Buckstone in June 2005. He and his other half liked it so much that they repeated the experience two years later, and then again at Mortonhall in January 2008. Undaunted, he branched out by planning a SoSOL in 2010, before aiming high with planning the SOL at Dalrulzion in 2011. Since then, he has been associated with either Planning or Organising many events at SOL level, including organising a Day in the 6-Days, in 2013 and 2023.
His other area of expertise has been number-crunching. Since 2016, he has served on the Committee as the Club’s Treasurer. Despite the temptation, he has resisted the urge to mis-appropriate any funds and slope off to the Bahamas. Indeed, his initiative led to the opening of a high-interest account in which to store most of the Club’s funds, so as to try to make this cash work for our benefit.
Thus, I’m sure you’ve all realised that my nominee for the award of the Gullane Rock for 2025 is Robin Galloway.'
