Come and Orienteer at Calderwood
Come to our next orienteering event, at Calderwood Country Park near Livingston on Sunday 6 April 2025 (starts 11-1pm), with something for everyone whether beginners or experienced competitors! Entries are now open on RaceSignup.
This will be a middle-distance race (shorter courses with controls closer together than 'classic' events), with anticipated winning times of around 35 minutes, and is part of the South of Scotland Orienteering League (SoSOL) series.
Full event details including course descriptions and signup link are available here.
Louise Adam’s long-awaited courses will finally get an outing, after the planned event last Spring had to be postponed due to high winds. She has planned a wide range of courses to make the most of the area’s map detail and give some good competition for regulars as well as an enjoyable introduction for newcomers. Course choices range from White for beginners (shortest and easiest) to Brown for the most experienced orienteers wanting top-level navigational challenge. As well as options suitable for juniors and families, there’s a Red course (longer but easier) which gives a good option for adult newcomers looking for a bit of distance for their run or walk. Map updates have been undertaken by Alastair Pedley, promising a high calibre event.
Bring along your friends, colleagues and families. Everyone is very welcome and it’s a great place for a fun morning out. Why not make a weekend of it and go to the Scottish Sprint Champs in Tweedbank (Galashiels) on Saturday 5th too!
Graham McIntyre is the event organiser, with Neil Conway (FVO) controlling and coordination input from William Ivory. Many thanks too to West Lothian Council for permission to hold this event.
We look forward to seeing you for some enjoyable orienteering at Calderwood!
